The new jargon- Business English is gaining prominence with the advent of globalization. The basic job responsibility involves teaching business English and conversational English. Those who have the aim to teach adults professionals like business officials find the course of teacher training convenient.
When it comes to teaching business English we are addressing two sets of group. One, who are paying for their classes themselves, the other group whose class is sponsored by the Company. For the second group there are always lies an attention problem as they see this time off work. So the first job of the teacher is to generate interested and motivate them to avail the class.
Second comes taking charge of the class when it is often found that the participants speak more than the trainer. So in order to raise their level of interest involve them in a task, a simple one and engage them in discussion to open up and speak in English. Your task would be to supervise and observe their performance. Check if they are using native language while conversion or they are trying out to speak in English.
Third task is to help them build their vocabulary. First give them topics like their work contract, job responsibilities. Take a mock interview where one performs as the employer and other as the employee. Keep the focus of session very positive, where aspects of employment are discussed. During these sessions they might face trouble in expressing. Help them open up by guiding them with right English words. Soon they develop a set of vocabulary which they use in their daily life at work.
Lastly, the role of the trainer or teacher would be to build confidence among the participants. Gaining their trust by letting them to speak freely should be the goal. Thus you can shape them according to their needs.
